To provide ASDOH alumni with high-quality continuing education while fostering opportunities to connect and strengthen the alumni community.

The inaugural edition of the symposium is proudly dedicated to our founding dean, Dr. Jack Dillenberg DDS, MPH. His vision for ASDOH shaped not only what we learned, but also how we came to see our roles as dentists, colleagues, and members of our communities. Through the values he instilled—service, compassion, collaboration, and a commitment to caring for the whole person—he helped prepare us to make a meaningful difference in the lives of our patients and the communities we serve. As we come together to learn, we also celebrate the enduring influence Dr. Dillenberg has had on each of us and the shared sense of purpose that continues to unite ASDOH graduates.

Jack Dillenberg DDS, MPH

Dr. Jack Dillenberg is founding dean of A.T. Still University’s Arizona School of Dentistry & Oral Health (ASDOH).  He is a graduate of the NYU college of dentistry class of 1971, and after dental school he served as a Dentist in the US Navy. He then practiced at a residential facility for people with severe disabilities before moving to Jamaica to work in a very rural clinic for their Ministry of Health. Prior to joining ASDOH, Dr. Dillenberg was Associate Director for public health programs in the California Department of Health Services and prior to that served as an Area Health Officer serving the west area of the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services. During most of the 1990s, Dr. Dillenberg served in several capacities in the Arizona Department of Health Services, including four years as its Director. Following his retirement from academia, he was elected Mayor of Jerome, Arizona, in November 2020. After serving his term as mayor through January 2023, he has continued his public service as a member of the town council.

Dr. Dillenberg is the recipient of a great number of honors and awards, including the Arizona Medical Association Humanitarian of the Year, the Fresh Start Foundation Man of the Year, the Harvard School of Public Health Alumni Award of Merit and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Academy of Developmental Medicine and Dentistry. Most recently, the American Association of Public Health Dentistry 2019 Distinguished Service Award.
